Tips on bedroom renovation
- Bedroom lighting - an often overlook part of bedroom designs. Lighting plays an important role in creating the feel of the bedroom. A master bedroom and a study room should never have the same light settings. If you like to read in the bedroom, adequate reading light should be in place. The use of table and floor lamps as well as candles bring light to any part of the bedroom as well as add a touch of class.
- Bedroom colors - choose colors that are restful, relaxing, neutral and that will jive with everything else when renovating your bedroom. Strong colors such as red should be avoided unless you personally find them comforting. Designing your bedroom interior with a splash of a bright color will liven up a room, but it should not be allowed to dominate. Always take into consideration what kind of mood the colors may bring inside for you and your spouse.
- Bedroom curtains - Choose layered curtains in the bedroom. This allows you to wake up to filtered light, black out the entire room for naps and sleeping in the day or open up for full daylight. Blackout lined draperies will protect you from morning sun, whereas sheers or thin blinds will filter light for a gentle glow in the morning. Bedroom interior design has many options, and can be tailored to your personal preferences.
- Bedroom flooring - Ideally, the flooring in your bedroom should never be tile, marble or granite as these give you an ice cold feel in the morning when you wake. It is recommended to use wood or carpet for bedrooms. Carpet would be the warmest but wood is also a popular choice for bedroom flooring. The use of carpet or wood also creates an overall warmer feel to the room.
